Setting up a new site is never easy, even though the features on a lot of them make it a lot easier than in the old WordStar days. If you remember WordStar, congrats- you are officially a PC Pioneer.
You thought I was going to say ‘old’, didn’t you? Like many other ideas and memetic messes, I am endeavoring to change ideas about age, and many other things, one post at a time. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
It took me 3 tries to figure out where the body of my stuff goes. And I figure that I’ll have to tweak on quite a few other things, like my header, to make it readable with something other than a microscope. Growing pains, what fun!
This post might eventually dissolve into Pixel Heaven, where all deleted items go, but until then, it’ll stand as a testimony to the head-banging stage of creation. It really is trial and lots of errors. One discovery I have already made is that this site doesn’t have any kind of correction or spell-check, but somehow my browser has acquired some sort of prescient anticipation of what I’ll write next. I don’t like this, and when I get a chance, I’ll turn that obnoxious and intrusive thing off, because it throws rocks into my flow. I know there’s some AI lapping this up somewhere, and while I’m all for training these things with genuine input, I don’t want them butting me off this place just yet. Sure, ‘bots can write stuff- they do all the time. But only a genuine human being can creatively write- channelling ideas from brain to keyboard, to screen to digital magic and to your screen. That’s what I am here to do.
All that said, welcome to my first-ish post. It’s not even Post Zero, because I’m busily picking and sticking things together. I’m glad you are interested enough to come see what all the noise is about. Stick around. It’ll get better!
Disclaimer: any misspellings and grammatical errors are mine alone. Eventually I’ll have my workflow setup (between feline interruptions). You’re getting a sneak/ snark preview. (That stupid anticipatory thingy actually MISSPELLED “peek” as “peak”!! That just demonstrates that computers will do anything and everything you want them to do- even if it’s wrong. Especially if it’s wrong.
Later, y’all…
