Why Synchrondipity?

Why not? This internet is a firehose of terrible things with miscreant algorithms that make you want more crap, and open rabbit holes for you to lose your mind in. Why not take a break from that and wander into a place that has no algorithms, trackers or other intrusive stuff- just a person on the other end writing stuff that you might enjoy.

I’m Sunfell, and I am almost embarrassed to say that I helped beta-test the Internet, back when it was still DARPAnet, and everyone knew everyone. It was a Cold War invention, and when the Soviet Union collapsed, it became a Cold War benefit, kind of like when they sent that powdered orange juice up with the Apollo crews, and it became popular.

I’m an Air Force brat, Air Force veteran, techie, cat-person, introvert, avid reader, occultist, and a Late Bloomer. I’m neurodiverse, and feel that my attention deficit and autism is a feature, not a bug, as are my many other differences. I spent the first part of my life learning how to pass as ‘normal’. I’m now in the process of ditching that suit of armor, and returning to my feral state- undomesticated, curious, connecting dots, and letting small cats perch on my shoulder.

My studies of magic in its various forms have shown me the kernel of its vast variety of interpretations. I call it ‘synchrondipity’. If magic is the art of changing energy at will, its kernel is realizing that we have to align ourselves and pay attention to the extreme subtleties of that energy. That is the synchronization part. Once we’re part of that Current, the Pattern will reveal itself. That is the serendipitous part, because it’s never what we want or will, it’s what we actually need.

Yeah, that sounds easy, right? It was when we were kids, before this world and its controlling culture deliberately and systematically stripped us of our ability to easily get into and maintain that state. It took me many years to retrieve that ability, and I am still working to remember.

I am also working to share what I have relearned. It’s not any kind of thing you’ll find in a book- they do help form the concepts and states of mind (and I will recommend some on our journey)- but actual experience is what is needed. Magic is experiential. Stuff in old grimoires is fine for academic studies, but things change, mostly for the better. I mean, hey- hot water, medicines that work and ice cream, right? And who wants to swan around in medieval dress outside a Ren Faire? Not me. Ever tried to drive a standard transmission vehicle in a full circle Kinsale cloak? Not recommended.

This will be a stream of consciousness, with refinements and references along the way. Synchrondipity will happen, along with all sorts of other stuff. If you’ve made it this far, I thank you. You are reading a facsimile of how my mind works- with tons of parentheses, asides, digressions, etc. It all comes together in one way or another. I hope you enjoy this journal as much as I enjoy creating it. Stay well.
